Powered by two Pratt and Whitney R-2800's, it could carry a lot more cargo than the C-47. This is the FIRST pilot's manual issued for this airplane and at the time this manual was printed only 28 aircraft had been accepted by the AAF! Eventually, the AAF would purchase more than 3,180 of these versatile and rugged transports.
