"KICKAPOO" INDIAN SNAKE OIL MEDICINE BOTTLE WITH THE ORIGINAL COMPLETE BOOKLET ABOUT THE PRODUCT.
that was sold by traveling Medicine Shows through out the midwest and especially western portions of the United States. This "rare" medicine bottle contained an opium and alcohol cocktail that was purported to be good for pains, cholera, toothaches, ear aches, rheumatism, diarrhea, nervousness and inflammatory conditions! Kickapoo juice was sold out of the backs of a horse drawn covered wagon in small towns all over, and some Native American Indians were employed to travel with the wagon putting on entertainment for the settlers as well as help sell the medicine! Embossed on the side reads: "HEALY & BIGELOW'S - KICKAPOO - INDIAN OIL" Note: The embossed word "INDIAN" was deleted on the medicine bottles in 1907 due to the "Pure Food & Drug Act of 1906". so this is an older bottle. The bottle is hand blown in a mold with a hand formed lip for use with a cork stopper. Measures 5 1/2" long x 1 1/8" bottom diameter, and 3/4" top diameter.
Booklet in very good condition with center crease and slight yellowing, seldom found with the product and is rare.
