VINTAGE 1948 NAVAL ORIENTATION BOOK NAVPERS 16138-A Restricted US Naval Academy

FOUND AT A LOCAL ESTATE:  This estate was the home of a man whose career was the Navy.  He reached a high rank and enjoyed cruising on ships in his retirement years.  Amongst his effects were papers, books, pamphlets, awards and letters.     NAVAL ORIENTATION BOOK  NAVPERS 16138 - A was a restricted book published for the Navy in 1948.  There are 601 pages detailing a huge range of topics including The Navy and Sea Power, Traditions, Customs, Ranks, Undersea Warfare etc.. Peppered generously throughout this large paperback book ( it measures 10" x 8 " x 1 1/2") are wonderful black and white historical photos including one of Fleet Admiral Nimitz signing the surrender document onboard the USS Missouri in Tokyo Bay..  There is some age related wear, a bit of a tear to the back cover and a black ink spot to some of the margin pages, but overall the book is in very nice condition.  Please check out my photos and feel free to email me with any questions....Thanks.
