Wild Turn-of-Century WATER-POWERED QUACK Medical Cure Apparatus!  Apparently the folks at Rochester Electric Specialty Company never go the message that you shouldn't mix electricity and water~
This century-old medical miracle "Electro-Life Generator" was patented September 3, 1907, and was designed to operate on a variety of faucet sizes.  When connected to the water supply, the stream of  water would activate a small turbine located within the nickel-plated housing.  That hydroelectric generator would produce an electric current which would be sent by the green wires to the several application accessories, including the hand paddles (with or without sponges,) the foot or body plates, and the electric hair brush.  The flat plates or "bath anodes" could also be used submerged in your bath water to generate a current while taking a bath!  Apparently, adjusting your faucet would provide greater or lesser water pressure, which, in turn, would generate a stronger or weaker current.
This 100-year-old device has had only minimal use (if any) and will make a superb display addition to any historical, quack medical, or antique water-powered device collection.  (Over the century, the compound holding the wire bristles of the brush has disintegrated, so portions of the bristles are no longer present. Otherwise, as you can see in the pics, the rest of the unit is in exceptionally good condition.)
