A War at Sea Survival Manual!
One of the most difficult tasks of the War Shipping Administration was to find sufficient numbers of experienced seamen to man the tremendously increased number of vessels and avoid delays. One concern was the medical welfare and survival (both physical and psychological) of seamen involved in life and death situations such as hardship and exposure from being cast adrift from a sinking vessel; convoy fatigue, and other similar conditions.
This booklet represents the War Shipping Administration’s attempt to focus on health education and survival of seamen caught as castaways in a lifeboat adrift in the Ocean, or caring for survivors from another ship wreck, and beating suicidal thoughts!
The book measures 4” x 5 ¾” and is in VF, tight, unmarked condition, with some light surface soiling on the rear cover. Try to find another in this condition!
A fine addition to your American Maritime book and manuscript collection.
