Book Reviews
I got my copies of Bill Walters? new book ?U.S. AND ALLIED MILITARY KNIVES WORLD WAR II? last week. After spending hours going through this book I have nothing but good things to say about it. I was most impressed with the quality of the photographs, they are just amazing. The photographs are very large and fill the page from top to bottom. The text is on separate pages as not to clutter the pages with the photographs. Bill covers all types of WWII knives along with some 50?s, 60?s, and WWI knives. Bill also covers the knife sheaths showing the different variations for each type of knife and an explanation of each one. I have never seen sheaths covered in this depth in any other knife reference book. The treatment of the WWII Mark 1 and Mark 2 knives is extensive with 39 pages on Mark 1 knives and 75 pages on Mark 2 knives. The book was printed in the U.S. and the quality is topnotch. It is a huge book with 676 pages, weighing 8 1/2 lbs and 2 ¼? thick. Bill did an amazing job on this book. If you are a WWII knife collector this book is a must have.

Hi Bill . I was just thumbing through the new book and although you already showed me the rough draft at SOS , I gotta say I am very Impressed ! First thing I did was go to the Western section as they are my favorites and just like the M3 book I was blown away by all the sub variants I was not aware of. I love the way you cover the different sheath variations for many knife groups, something I have not seen done before and has always been a burning question In my mind, although I know we have discussed some of them. Well done sir! Regards , Craig H.

Hi Bill, I got the book, boy is it nice! I was up until 3 a.m. going through it. Wonderful pictures, a lot of knives you rarely see. I like the Western section, with all the variations of the L76-77 stilettos, I don?t think any other book has all the details on those like this. All the Aussie variations are neat too. It is a first class reference my friend, you can be very proud of it! I don?t think there is another book out there with all information yours has in it. And, in a format showing each one pictured. Very nice!
All the best, Rick S.

You can be proud cause from my point of view, those ones are the best books ever written about military knives. Plenty of good quality images and full of serious text. Congratulations for your "must have" publication.

Appearing in the Australian Blade Forum.
Mr Bill Walters, a much respected American knife collector and historian, has just released his second book titled U.S and Allied Military Knives (WW2).
This book is a monster at a whopping 676 pages! i
thought I would take the opportunity to give a quick review of it for fellow members and I must say that I?m impressed on many levels with this elegant and sophisticated book.
Like the tales that many of these war time knives could tell if they were able to do so their story simply jumps off the page at you.
The quality of the knives pictured in both full colour and high resolution at near 1:1 ratio showcases them in a way that other books on this topic have not done before. For collectors who like to study knives in the minutest of detail and rely less on descriptions to fill in the blanks this book does so in a spectacular fashion.
It is visually stunning like a coffee table book but just as informative and instructive as those that have gone before it. This marriage of detailed content and imagery gives the reader the perception that he could literally pick up the knives off the page and hold them in his own two hands. Th
e section on Australian fighting knives is expertly researched by our own John ?Dutchy? Kroezen. This section is 84 pages in length with some stunning examples of knives and sheaths, many of which have been published for the very first time.
For many of us we may never have the opportunity to possess many of these rare and desirable knives but this book allows us to gain a familiarity with their unique characteristics like never before.
This book metaphorically put these knives into the hands of all collectors to examine, study and enjoy and that is a great gift!
Regards,
Lobby

Good Afternoon Bill, hope you?re doing well;
First, I have to say that I couldn't wait to receive your Book 2, I was so excited when it arrived, when I unwrapped it, I was blown away by the massive size of it, it dwarfs all other reference books I have.
Also, can't stop looking at it on my wall unit, it's like having an elephant in a small room, the photography, and Information is Awesome. Thanks again for putting your Creation out there for Collectors. I give it 6 stars.
Best Regards, John C.
